Electronics such as computers have been used to research subjects or questions for a decent amount of time, even in classrooms, but cellphones, not so much.
For a long time, cellphones were highly prohibited in all classrooms, but more recently it's becoming harder and harder to stop students from being on them in class.
Right now there's a huge debate going on between teachers and parents, of whether students should be able to use cellphones in class or not.
Cellphones only began to get popular in the late 1990s, and while some teachers are accepting electronics such as phones to be used as tools or resources, others are completely against the idea.
Although phones are prohibited from some classes, it doesn't always stop the students. Teachers are getting very frustrated from students ignoring their requests and going on phones anyways.
Right now one of the hardest things to try and figure out is how to keep students on task with the phones. Because there isn't any way for teachers to stop students from texting or checking social media, its relatively easy for someone to use their phones for things other than schoolwork. One simple notification and just like that any work being done switches to reading a message or checking facebook.
Will students or teachers be able to control what's going on on the phones of 20-30 students? How much will this actually benefit to the class? These questions and so many more are being considered in the debate of phones in classrooms. What do you think?
