A dress code is a set of rules that is specifying the appropriate clothing tolerated for work, school or events. Nowadays, next to every school has a dress code, and not everyone is necessarily happy with them.
Some schools have uniforms, meaning they have a certain set of clothes they wear everyday. Some people are very against school uniforms, saying that students should have the right to express themselves through their clothes. Other people are pro-uniforms, as it can save time in the morning instead of choosing an outfit, and can reduce bullying based on the image of people.
The majority of schools have a dress code instead of a uniform, meaning they can wear whatever they like, but there are limits or restrictions.
There are a lot of people saying that dress codes are sexist, and targeting females. There are arguments saying that girls shouldn't be able to wear crop tops and shorts because they're a distraction to guys, and they aren't able to concentrate or focus. Then of course there's the arguments that its not a girls fault if a guy can't control himself.
The way we dress is a way to express ourselves for some people, and certain dress codes can take that away from people.
Another logical argument in my opinion is that a lot of people don't actually follow the dress code. There are of course lots of people who do go by the rules, but when there's far more than one person disobeying the dress code, its hard to try and tell one person to change, if there are more people in the same school that are wearing generally the same thing, and not asked to change.
There's a debate of whether or not dress codes should be prohibited in schools, what are your your opinions?
