For the past 15 years, Canada has ranked in the top 10 out of 186 countries for the amount of greenhouse gas emissions released. 25% of the emissions being released are from transportation such as trucks, cars, trains and buses.
The amount of greenhouse gases being released increased drastically around the 1700-1800s, as the population began to grow rapidly, and with more people, and more demands, the numbers keep on going up. Greenhouse gases can be caused from multiple things; vehicles, cattle, coal, deforestation and so much more, and because there isn't a huge number of people paying attention to the the damage that can be done by this, changes aren't happening.
The more the numbers go up, the thicker is atmosphere gets. The atmosphere is like a blanket surrounding the earth, and the thicker it gets, the higher the temperature rises. This is causing climate change.
One of the main issues of climate change we hear about is melting ice caps. Icebergs are melting rapidly. This is affecting the whole world because as the ice melts, sea levels are rising which is causing floods. We're also losing a large amount of the earths fresh water because the fresh water in the ice is melting in to the salt water.
Overall climate change is going to affect canada in multiple ways from loss of animal habitat to water shortages. And if no one's trying to make a change to stop climate change, then nothing's going to get better.
